eclectic christmas mix 2003

from the blog timecapsule circa 12/2003:
my mix tapes are so flicted

finally in the christmas spirit.... finally

well, it's that time of year again. it's been a little slow in coming this year. sick kids. sick wife. sick me. we just put up the 'ol christmas tree tonight. i've finalized my list. i've kicked off the first annual holiday luncheon series at the office. we're doing BBQ, Indian, and Mediterranean; each on the remaining friday's of the dec. hoo-wah! it should be a good time, if anyone shows. i work with a finicky bunch. what ya goin' do?

hope you're enjoying my eclectic christmas mix list for 2003. it wasn't tested on lab animals or anything. i did really listen to the whole thing to redouble my quality assurances. i kinda got all crazy with the concept of the perfect xmas mix. i bought some really cool software just to make a cool CD label. the theme is the same as last year and it worked out well that Will Ferrell made Elf. there are lot of blues and r&b in this one. and big band from Bing & Frank. nice. it's definitely less traditional than last years, but the end result are some cool grooves. i picked up the new "Harry for the Holiday's", but none of the Connick stuff made the cut. i like Silver Bells and Happy Elf, but the rest of my mix was too strong. added MG at the last minute. again, nice.

and finally, i'm nearing completion of the 2nd annual "Eclectic Christmas Mix." here is the song list:

Happy Holidays - Bing Crosby
Jingle Bells - Frank Sinatra
I Won't Be Home for Christmas - Blink-182
If Every Day Was Like Christmas - Elvis Presley
God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen - Barenaked Ladies & Sarah McLachlan
Hey Santa Claus - The Moonglows
Presents For Christmas - Solomon Burke
Christmas Song - Dave Matthews Band
The Christmas Song (Patrick Krouchian Remix) - Rosemary Clooney
Cool Yule - Louis Armstrong With The Commanders
Christmas In Dixie - Alabama
This Christmas - Donny Hathaway
Feliz Navidad - Jose Feliciano
Dig That Crazy Santa Claus - Ralph Marterie & His Orchestra
I Believe in Father Christmas - Vertical Horizon
Christmas Time - Ray Charles
Please Come Home For Christmas - Charles Brown
Carol of the Bells - The Calling
Christmas Celebration - B.B. King
Merry Christmas from the Family - Montgomery Gentry
Run Rudolph Run - Chuck Berry
Here Comes Santa Claus - Elvis Presley With The Jordanaires
Looks Like A Cold, Cold Winter - Bing Crosby With The Lee Gordon Singers
Santa Claus Is Coming To Town - Frank Sinatra
Santa Will Rape Your Dogs - Blink-182

what do you think? rock, blues, punk, country, electronica, traditional.... i know. it freakin' rocks. enjoy. if this doesn't jump start christmas for you and get you in the spirit of the season, nothing will.

peace and all that jazz.
